About
I’m washi, a software engineer working where data meets systems.
How I like to work
I believe the best decisions are grounded in data and made by people. I build the systems that get those people accurate answers while the answers still matter.
A model is only as good as the data that feeds it and the tools that let people act on it, so I tend to work on all three.
“Far better an approximate answer to the right question, which is often vague, than an exact answer to the wrong question, which can always be made precise.”
What I’m drawn to
Making slow things fast
I like finding the work a system never needed to do and cutting it out. My best speed-ups have usually come from careful measurement, more than clever tricks.
Building things people can trust
Models and data are only useful when people can rely on them, so I spend as much time on measurement and evaluation as on the models themselves.
Owning a system
I enjoy owning a system end to end, from the first design sketch to the last deploy, and seeing it work well for the people who use it.
